A new year and a new focus

In the later months of 2012 I started painting again. I had leftover stock of enough plates, mugs, tea cups and what not to start again without a trip to the stores.  I began with a couple of random plates for a friend whose food photographs were becoming monotonous - I was tired of seeing that same yellow plate - and I thought of painting a couple of plates for her to use as props.

Her absolute delight and my own pleasure at being back with the brush were motivation enough to paint regularly again. I posted a few pictures on Facebook and before I knew it I was invited to participate in the Archaeology Day celebrations organised by the Centre for Extra Mural Studies, Mumbai University. The director asked me to do a range of archaeology themed ceramics for sale at the event, and I was more than happy to participate.

In November I started the EuphoRHEA page on Facebook as a space to share my art with the world. The response was amazing and humbling at the same time.

The dust had barely settled after the Archaeology Day sale and there was with another invitation, this time to participate in a local sale, in Kharghar. The organisers were very eager to have me join - my painted ceramics were absolutely unique.

I set out not wanting to paint ceramics as a business. Frankly, it's not really viable as a full time occupation. But then life is not only about doing things because they're financially viable. The hubby's advice was to ensure that I didn't make a loss and to ensure that I did it only to a level where I still enjoyed it. So here I am. Painting for fun and sharing the fruits of my labours with a very appreciative audience.

Here are some of the pieces I've done for the forthcoming sale in Kharghar on the 19th and 20th of January, 2013.

Earlier this blog has been mainly about food. Now I add beautiful ceramics to it :)
